In Sept 2019, Hurricane Dorian reached The Abaco Islands causing untold devastation. The BBC described Great Abaco as ‘virtually uninhabitable’. In the immediate aftermath, The American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) – the world’s leading Jewish humanitarian organisation – launched a response.

In 2022 we were asked to build agricultural resilience and capacity in Abaco and The Caribbean by harnessing Israel’s expertise in aquaponics, hydroponics and composting through: training, technology transfer and advisory services.

Every ReGrow project is shaped by — and contributes back to — three core drivers: farm practice, research and innovation, and institutional scale. The Abaco Project engaged field and innovation drivers.

At the field level, Israeli experts engaged with the local farmers building capacity through training and advisory.

At the innovation level, intentional technology transfer was initiated introducing new innovations.
