Hamas’ campaign of agricultural terrorism left unprecedented destruction. Entire fleets of tractors were stolen to Gaza, greenhouses destroyed, dairies incinerated and reservoirs blown apart. Farmers across the region were at a loss; while government compensation covered a portion of verified losses, it fell far short of the actual cost of replacement.

The Emergency Equipment Project, funded by the Jewish Federations of North America, closed the financing gap. It helped every farmer across the western Negev replace equipment that was lost, return to production and begin rebuilding their livelihoods. This historic project not only laid the foundation for the region’s recovery, but also sent a profoundly moving message to every farmer: you are not alone.

THE MODEL

Project Change Drivers

ReGrow’s model advances projects through connected Field, Innovation, and Policy drivers. The Emergency Equipment Project primarily engaged the Field and Policy drivers.

At the field level, farmers regained the equipment needed to return to their land, restore production, and rebuild their livelihoods.

At the policy level, the project highlighted the gap between government compensation and the true cost of agricultural recovery, demonstrating how targeted intervention can accelerate recovery when existing mechanisms are insufficient.
