For many farmers in the Western Negev, the most immediate challenge after October 7 was labor. Foreign agricultural workers were killed, kidnapped and unable to return. Farms were left without a workforce.

The situation highlighted and compounded the agricultural labour challenge and presented an opportunity: farmers began looking for new machinery and technology that could help relieve the reliance on manual labour.

THE MODEL

Our Three Drivers of Change

ReGrow’s model advances projects through connected Field, Innovation, and Policy drivers. The New Equipment and Automation Project primarily engages the Field and Innovation drivers.

At the field level, farmers gained practical tools to keep farms operating despite ongoing labor shortages after October 7.

At the innovation level, the project helped farmers adopt equipment and automation solutions that reduce manual labor demands, improve efficiency, and strengthen their ability to withstand future workforce disruptions.
