The dairy is the beating heart of the kibbutz. It is not only symbolic, but due to milk production quotas and fixed prices, it provides a critical economic foundation for communities.
In the wake of Oct 7th and in recognition of the critical need to support community recovery, the Government offered an additional ~20% quota to the dairies across the western Negev.
The challenge was that many farms could not meet the new production targets without major investments in infrastructure such as cow sheds, milking parlors, and feeding system delaying the desperately needed ROI to the communities.
ReGrow’s intervention accelerates the ROI by providing approx ⅓ of the investment in a philanthropic donation. Initial expansion projects are already generating measurable increases in production and farm income across participating communities.
THE MODEL
Our Three Drivers of Change
ReGrow’s model advances projects through connected Field, Innovation, and Policy drivers. The Dairy Expansion Project engages the Field and Policy drivers.
At the field level, participating dairies expanded production capacity, strengthened farm economics, and improved their ability to recover and grow following October 7.
At the policy level, the project helped farmers respond to the national increase in milk production quotas, demonstrating how targeted investment can bridge the gap between public policy goals and the infrastructure required to achieve them.
