Achieved through automation
The Dairy Innovation Project accelerates the adoption of technologies to address key operational challenges and strengthen productivity, profitability and long-term sustainability. At its core, the project drives a critical shift in farmer mindset, positioning innovation as a necessary investment for maintaining competitiveness and efficiency.
Delivered through a blended finance model, philanthropic funding reduces risk and improves the return on investment (ROI) for farmers, enabling investments that would otherwise remain out of reach. Following a successful pilot phase, the project is currently expanding across additional dairies in the region. Extensive evaluation on both the technological and economic impact of the technologies in phase I further encouraged and de-risked technology adoption in phase II.
THE MODEL
Our Three Drivers of Change
ReGrow’s model advances projects through connected Field, Innovation, and Policy drivers. The Dairy Innovation Project engaged all three.
At the field level, farmers gained practical tools to improve productivity, reduce labor demands, and strengthen the resilience of their operations.
At the innovation level, proven technologies in areas such as cooling, feeding, and herd health were tested and validated under real dairy-farm conditions, helping reduce the risk of adoption.
At the policy level, the project generated evidence on the economic and operational benefits of technology adoption, helping inform future investment, grantmaking, and approaches to dairy modernization across the sector.
